On tap:
Pours a nice auburn brown, with a good amount of off-white to tan head. Streaming carbonation can be seen feeding the head, as the beer has a decent clarity despite its color.
Nose is lightly bitter, but sadly missing the nuttiness of its name that I was hoping for. Warmth does bring a hint of light nut with a deep whiff.
Taste is fairly standard, more bitter than nutty brown ale. The darker grains impart a slightly different flavor to the opening, but if I were blindfolded, I might think this an amber at darkest. Perhaps the strong presence of carbonation kills some of the more subtle tastes, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to search for subtle toasted notes. Warmth again helps slightly, as I do get an oily nutty note combined with the earthy/woody hops bittering.
I wasn't expecting too much from a young nano brewery. This lived up or down to that expectation, depending how you look at it.
