A 500ml bottle stamped Batch 124 that I purchased back in May and forgot about. Pouring in a pint glass for the review.

Look- Pours a thin medium brown color with a small finger of light tan foam that quickly settles to a thin ring. No lacing is left behind.

Smell- Tart raspberry and some dark chocolate.

Taste- Tart raspberry up front followed by bitter dark chocolate with a sour and slightly acidic finish.

Feel- Thin, tart, bitter and very dry.

Overall- A very interesting beer that works in an odd sort of way. Everything advertised is there! It drinks rather large with the raspberry, chocolate and sour profile. I was getting quite full after consuming half the bottle. I'm curious about the abv. and while I would buy another, I would definitely share this next time around.

Sour stouts are a dicey proposition, but I've enjoyed other Four Fathers beers with flavor additives, so I picked this up sans reviews on BA. In this case, the bet hasn't really paid off. The Fall looks lovely, with a half finger of cocoa-colored head that lingers for a bit over the dark coffee-colored liquid. The smell is a bit of butyric acid up front, followed by raspberry-flavored sundae syrup and a squirt of hot fudge. The first taste is not enjoyable, but as the tongue acclimates to the sour acetic acid notes, it's easier for the strong raspberry juice flavors to take over. Overall, this comes across pretty heavy-handed compared to other sours that are still restrained and balanced from the very first sip.
