Received in a trade. Should be 2019 vintage.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark almost black hue with a two finger mocha head that fades to leave thick wisps and a nice halo. The lacing an dlegs are great.

S - Aromas of muted maple and flashes of vanilla. Almost graham cracker notes along with nutty coffee. There is a very low whisky element, which is surprising considering how barrel and or whisky forward the two other variants were.

T - Taste is similar with pleasant albeit light maple. The vanilla is subtle too and there is a pleasant almost baking spice element. . The coffee is pleasant, good roast and fruit, but the whisky is still low and muted. As are the barrel elements.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, creamy, alcohol hidden well.

O - Overall this was a solid enough imperial stout. While good it isn't nearly as good as the two Four Fathers I drank earlier (BA Viking Funeral & DBA Wheel House). Pleasant but lacks the pop of the other two beer.

THanks to rudzud, no vintage, probably 2019
Pours a brown colored foamy smaller head with med retention, nice sticky lacing, jet black color

Nose is big fudgey cocoa, a bit of roasted coffee, a little nutty, some earthy vanilla, a little roast and general coffee, a touch of toasted oak but little barrel and almost no whiskey, light maple,

Taste hits with a protein coagulate that was in the bottle apparently and floated on the top of my beer, after that dark roasted malt, tons of cocoa and some roast, light whiskey, not a ton, light toasted oak barrel but not much, fair bitterness from roast, a little maple but not a lot, little toasted nutty coffee late

MOuth is fuller bod, fair richness, med foamy carb, a touch of warming alcohol

Overall good, but not as good as the others in the series. Plus that coagulate was bleeeeeeeehhhhh!

Appearance - From the tap, the beer poured black with a mocha colored head.

Smell - Maple sweetness was noted in the nose, but it was not overwhelming. Vanilla notes may also merged with the maple.

Taste - I feel like a lot of maple stouts try to out maple each other. This is not overwhelming and generally pretty well-balanced. Maple is sweet but does not cause immediate diabetes. To an extent, the Wheelhouse base beer is masked. The bourbon is noted, but not the coffee. Every time a new adjunct is added to a beer, another adjunct has to take a backseat.

Mouthfeel - Speaking of the base beer, how did adding maple thin out the body?

Overall - I was pleased by the beer not being overly sweet, yet somewhat disappointed by the body. Across the board, there seems to be inconsistency in the first batch of this beer.
