Poured from 16oz can into my BeerAdvocate teku.. No date on the can that I could see.
Appearance: rich dark brown with what appears to be a good haze and a thin layer of creamy dark-tan foam atop. Nice.
Smell: sweet and just a little musty, with notes of chocolate along with some classic dark-fruit aromas like raisin and dates. I wouldn’t have guessed chipotles if it didn’t say so on the label, but knowing they are there, I fancy I am getting a whiff of them too. Very good.
Taste: starts off with a classic old / strong ale flavor of maybe-oxidized raisin, date, and tobacco, then morphs into the more complex chocolate and chile flavors, finising off with a definite heat but one that is nicely contrasted by the sweetness. I am quite liking this beer as a sippin’ beverage.
Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a lightish carbonation and a smooth creaminess.
Overall: I don’t think I’d want to have two of these in a row, but I’m going to enjoy the complex flavors of this one as I sip it for a while.

Appearance - The beer was light black with some bubbles clinging to the sides of the glass.
Smell - The nose was somewhat sweet with chocolate notes and cookie sweetness.
Taste - Chocolate sweetness led the profile. Dark fruits, raisins, followed along with the chocolate. There was a touch of honey. The chipotle spice came in the finish.
Mouthfeel - The body was lacking in body. More viscosity would have allowed the spice to linger longer.
Overall - This was a really good variant.
