Gold to dirty gold color. Clear. Moderate head. No lasting lace.
Sweet with a nice essence of alcohol warmth.
Not as warming as some Tripels, but this beer is true to the genre and deceptively drinkable. Thick body and sweet. The carbonation is low, just enough to cut any cloyness. Some hop but it's only for balance. Short aftertaste but it reminds me of watered down brandy (in a good way).

Said the name out loud in my best Boston accent. Mahkit Squayah Tripel dude, it's wicked good.
Batch 2, pours light fizzy head that fades pretty quickly, mild streaming bubbles, crystal clear watery tan color.
Nose is weird to start, like fermented bread and a weird couscous like fermentation, earthy and mushroomy, into a mild diacetyl buttery thing in the background. At least the phenols and peppery spices are decent, with mild sweet grainy malt, and nice fruity esters, with mild grassy herbal slight earthy hops, grains get gristy and grainy, little doughy.
Taste is much better, nice Belgian esters, fruity esters, tree fruit and plum like, very little booze and some decent phenols with it. Mild gristy grainy malt, sweet candy flavor with touch of honey. Faint diacetyl again, but decent grassy herbal hops, little fruity note, floral too. Mild earthy mushroom flavor too. Finish is dry but little sticky lingering grassy floral hops and fruity esters, mild phenols, etc.
Mouth is med bod, nice carb, faint booze.
Overall mixed of decent and horrible. Can't give this any good ratings cause tehre are so many meh components. It's really disappointing as I was so excited for a new brewery in MA, and this one seems to really do a poor job as 2 of the 3 beers I've had so far were pretty bad, and only one decent. I might give them one more try, but even that is questionable. Pretty poorly executed all around guys!

750ml brown bottle with a bottled on date. Purchased from Charles Street Liquors.
Look: Deep amber hued brew, good clarity with a great looking head. A lot darker than expected but this is a good looking beer regardless.
Smell: Very ripe tropical fruit, noticeable esters, yeast, and bread crust. Too much alcohol character for a Tripel in the nose, was hoping for a cleaner nose though this is more like a typical Belgian Strong Pale Ale aroma.
Taste: Rough. Enough crispness for the style with a moderate sized body. High presence of alcohol on the palate, waves of fruit esters cloud the taste buds initially. Odd grainy flavor in the middle. Not balanced and nothing subtle here.
Not sure what makes this a Tripel, even if it was catagorized as a Belgian Strong Pale Ale it would end up being mediocre. Throwing a Belgian yeast at a beer does not automatically make it a “Belgian” style. Where is the finesse, balance, and drinkability? Several sips and my palate is asking for mercy.
