Earthy smell with a mild beef stew aroma. A bit of a Saison wanna be. There's a sour touch, but it's subtle. The color is a cloudy yellow. The body and carbonation is what one would expect.

I have neutral feelings about this beer. Good in pinch but not a go-to beer.

Pours a nice large fluffy creamy head that hits 1.5 fingers and fades back semi slowly with some messy lacing and lots of streaming bubbles to reinforce it, mostly clear honey orange slight golden color.

Nose brings lots of Belgian saison golden malts, straw and hay, a little musty dried and then wetted grass, with some mild farmhouse funky aromas, grainy doughy cracker, lots of straw and mild zest lemon like, with faint spices, and some light grassy musty hops.

Taste brings lots more grainy cracker malts, toasty wheat and big husky grainy cracker dough, with wet hay and straw, wheat grist and wheatgrass. Some lemon zest and mild saison like spices, with faint phenols and some mild farmhouse funk, but a bit light in that department and touch watery.A touch of citrus zest, citrus pith and some rind, and a little grassy musty hop but very light on the hops too. Finish is a little sticky but not really sweet, and never really was, mild bitterness and a little thin feeling, little grainy cracker malt and straw lemongrass wheat flavors lingering, touch of lemon and pear too with faint esters.

Mouth is lighter bod, a little thin, light carbonation.

Overall a bit of a letdown. It has some great Belgian farmhouse table beer saison characters, great malts, nice belgian yeast additions, but the hops are almost nowhere to be found, which I wanted to see since they mentioned it on the bottle, and the body was thin, and carbonation light. Def a big pouding sessionable beer that I can drink a lot of, and quite enjoyable, but I wish the hops and body came through a bit more.

750ml brown bottle with a bottled on date. Purchased from Charles Street Liquors.

Look: Decent lacing on top of a pale straw yellow hue with a mild haze.

Smell: Yeast, grain, dusty husk, spice, mild stone fruit, and bread crust.

Taste: A little crisp with a slickness on the palate, yeast and mildly astringent grain throughout. A little thin and wet. Mild hopping, more flavor as the bitterness is pretty low here. Spice and fruit in the middle with and odd graininess. Finishes with a lingering astringent graininess and more yeast.

I get the brewer’s intention here but nothing seems to really come together. The astringency also put a damper on the drinkability. This one just does not work for me.

Bottle dated 10/07/14, served in Cervoise glass

A: Light/pale straw yellow, white with haze. Completely opaque. Thin head fades quickly into residual thin lace on surface of the beer.

S: Immediate straw, earthy tones, mild grassiness. Possibly clove/coriander. Faint Belgian-yeast spiciness on the finish.

T: Possibly bland, but backs up the nose in terms of earthy, hay, grassiness. Definite Belgian. Lemony citrus shines through. Smooth bubblegum similar to a Belgian Pale Ale on the finish.

M: Extremely smooth. Very low carbonation, Medium (-) body.

O: Very enjoyable session beer. Could have a bit more flavor, but stands up well for its ABV.
