Light in body, dark golden in color. We added sour cherries to the fermentation on our Belgian Tripel, adding complexity to the base beer. Hints of fruity esters from the yeast compliment the aroma of the cherries and lend a balance to the flavors. Finishes with a hint of honey sweetness from the malt with lingering cherry notes. Warming overall.

The cherry really helps cut through the heaviness of a tripel

Not an overpowering aroma of cherries but more orange fruit and peel with some cherry cough medicine. Some grain, malt and yeast showed up in the background
Taste was very identical to aroma with the grIn and malt being a little stronger
Overall it was very decent beer to relax with

Spellbound Brewing "Belgian Tripel Cherry"

$2.49 @ Roger Wilco, Pennsauken, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a very hazy golden-amber body beneath a short head of white that's falling before my eyes. That's common with strong beers but this is just 8.5% so I don't know what to make of it. The aroma is malty and fruity with some moderate Belgian-yeast character but I'm not finding any cherry. The flavor, however, does display a bit of cherry. It's not a cherry beer, it's a Tripel with cherry added and it's just an additional note. I think if you tasted it blind you'd still pick out cherry in the flavor, especially in the aftertaste, but I doubt you'd immediately think that it had had cherries added. The malt has a pleasant sweetness to it that's not too sweet, and it's subtly spicy. Moderately bitter in comparison to the maltiness. Smooth in flavor, and smooth across the tongue with a moderate carbonation level and medium body. Overall this is really quite nice, and the cherry really does make a difference. The base Tripel is a little soft in terms of yeast and fermentation but it's still completely within character, it's just not of the spicy/dry variety - and that actually works perfectly. A nice, relaxing sipper of a beer. Worth trying.

A: Small hazy orange coloring with a slight frothy, cream topping. Good display of effervesce swirls around the vessel with a powerful force. Leaves with a thick coating of lace.
S: Aroma of tart cherries and orange funk, low awareness factor. Dry orange peel, not much Belgian yeastiness coming through, rather tame.
T: Grain base was nice, light dried cherries were tart, with some dried fruit. Some musky nature but otherwise the Belgian yeast factor was restrained, light musky hops.
M: Ok carbonation, could have been tighter, creamy base malts, wheat? I know they use briess malts but not sure of complimentary usage.
O: Overall a nice clean example, the cherries were there, but wish more in force as with the Belgian yeastiness. Drinks like a tart cherry wheat beer.
