500 ml bottle served cold into a pint glass. Purchased from the brewery's taster six-pack.
Appearance - Reasonable average amber color, with a few honey brown hues. Good finger and a half of head that receded fairly quickly. Modest carbonation.
Smell - Not much here. Some really light grainy notes but not much else
Taste - A lot more flavor than aroma. Grainy flavors, some prolific caramel sweetness, and modest bitterness. Easy to drink and good if unspectacular flavors.
Mouthfeel - smooth and on the heavier side. carbonation is a little soft, but pretty good overall.
Overall - Smithavens Amber Lager isn't any sort of world beater, but absent a lackluster aroma, is a solid and easy to drink amber lager that fits nicely in the lineup. I wouldn't rush out to pick up a six-pack, but I wouldn't turn down another couple bottles either.

Growler from the storefront. Moderate head that quickly dissipates. Real amber colour. Lots of caramel and malt in the nose and to taste. Nice grainy finish. Mostly ordinary, but drinkable.
28-Apr-2016 The brewery is renamed Smithavens and this beer is now Amber Solace. Second turn is out of a bottle, fairly sharply carbonated. Still all about the malt.
