Poured on tap, black with ample tan head. Looks pretty good, except for a bubbling on the sides of the glass that subtly suggests sub-stellar craftsmanship. Smells good, like a normal imperial stout should. Tastes ok but not memorable. An imperial stout with notes of deep roasted malt and a touch of chocolate. Dry with a lack of sweetness. A bit smokey. Watery mouthfeel but chewy on the finish after swishing around. Overall an ok stout, but a bit dry and the unbalanced malts keeps it short of excellent. One is left with the impression that something is missing, perhaps a bit of pepper heat or even a vanilla sweetness. I’d drink it again if someone offered but wouldn’t buy it myself.
