Hello Pittsburgh from Philadelphia, this one’s for you.
In my opinion this is a far better than average west coaster brewed in a city known for its hilly ups-and-downs (wtf Pittsburgh, how do youse survive driving here in the winter??) rather than the quality of its professional baseball team, yeah? Yeah. I digress.
The beer hits most of the marks for me. Initially I was a little MEH on the nose until I let it warm up for a spell when I had to pause; is that peach I detect? Mango and peach? I don’t know, but whoever decided that putting coleslaw on a friggin’ burger was a good thing needs to be excommunicated to Ohio, which is easily my least favorite state. And I live next to New Jersey.
I am going to be honest, because as much as I absolutely DESPISE the Penguins, Pittsburgh’s brewery scene is something stellar. I didn’t get to at least five breweries that I wanted to on my recent excursion out here because it was in December, roughly five weeks after Pittsburgh transforms into a completely frigid, frozen wasteland. Speaking of dying, I know that the steel city or whatever (*cough cough Bethlehem cough*) is just a stones throw south from Evens City cemetery, which is what should rightfully be looked upon as the MOST FAMOUS BURIAL GROUND in the entirety of the state but, you know, probably isn’t thanks to, well, Gettysburg.
Hopefully the next time I’m out here it won’t be three degrees outside so I can do rad stuff like hit up another show at the infamous Pittsburgh diy punk institution Mr Roboto Project. It’s 2026, someone convince the members of Circle of Dead Children to play another show for chrissakes.
In summation, this jawn is a good beer by a solid Pittsburgh brewer. I wish the sandwiches out in western PA were as good as the breweries. Let’s go Flyers!
*lol jk Jersey you’ll always be the worst

2/24/24 On tap at the Millvale, pa location. Saturday at 4:30 pm and this place was HOPPING! PACKED.
Anyway, this offering borders on an imperial in depth and richness. Beautiful, deep clear amber. Decent amount of lacing.
Sweeter than i expected for a West Coast, even with a nice amount of hop bite. High quality for sure! Sweet grapefruit and pineapple come through.

Pours a nice clear gold with visible carbonation a good sized head and persistent lacing. Smell is citrusy hops. Some pine. Good citrusy piney hop flavor as well. Resinous and bracing bitterness. Very nice- what an IPA should taste like. Full bodied. Not a session beer. Feels like it's halfway between IPA and DIPA.

10 oz pour
Pours clear golden, white film for a head.
Aroma of biscuit, honey, maple, and pine hops.
Flavor is biscuit, honey, citrus and pine hops.
Medium to full body, tingly carbonation on the tongue.
Really tasty west coast IPA, hits just right and goes down super smooth. I could drink this often.
