no a bad milk stout here, but as they go, its a little light in color and body, lacking the depth of really roasted barley, and as a result, it seems a little overly sweet because the lactose is left unchecked. still i liked it quite a bit, found it distinct and satisfying, and i liked that it had a more developed caramel malt middle than so many. i think they sweetness of the grain and the milk sugar contribute different things. it certainly limits drinkability, at least for me, to one pint, but i do like the way it comes together. i think a little more roast on it would really make it. i get milk chocolate, but none of the earthy bitter or espresso notes that usually accompany these dark beers. smooth in texture but a little more residual sugar than it needs. low carbonation levels here are fine and seem intentional. warms up well too. overall not the most inventive or well executed beer in the house here, but a worthy milk stout. the only dark beer they had pouring this weekend.
