Big, red-hued, and old school. We first brewed a variation of this one over twenty years ago when IPA’s included a large caramel malt presence and a smooth balance between malt and hops. Liberal additions of centennial hops provide solid bitterness and pronounced citrus, pine, and floral aromatics.

As the IPA style has developed over time, what was once an amber and hop dominant ale has now been left behind. Picking it up is the American red ale and the persistence of Aloha Beer to not leave this nostalgic flavor in the dust.
Medium amber, frothy and moderately hazy, Red Zeppelin entices the nose with a firm scent of caramelization, bread crust, citrus, spruce and herbs. Sweeter in taste, the deep caramel flavors lean on toasty, honey-like and nutty flavors to suggestion something in the granola-like family.
With the malt sweetness slowly fading, the rise of hops bring a classic taste of pink grapefruit, orange and a hint of pineapple for a traditional, hop-forward balance on the idle palate. Growing bitterness brings about a finish of peppery pine, fresh-cut grasses and a resinous after palate.
Medium bodied and finishing decidedly bitter and malty-dry, the taste is a throwback to when a caramel malt base and a hoppy bitterness showcased American ale in a nutshell- a familiar and welcomed taste for an old fashioned palate.

16oz tulip tumbler at the Yard House.
Look: deep clear copper. Nice lace retention.
Smell: clean; nothing offensive
Taste: just lovely: this sort of has an earthiness to it. Its clean, light hops balance a very deep caramel character. It might be just a wee bit metallic but not in a bad way. Light in the mouth. Nothing wrong here - its not your average ale thats for sure. I like it!
Feel: Light in the mouth as i said. Light carbonation. Not oily at all.
Overall: Winner! I could do this all day. Great beer!
