West Coast style IPA whose pale, subdued malt base provides the perfect crisp and dry vehicle for hops throughout. Ample bitterness and dank notes interplay with multiple layers of big citrus, and abundant tropical fruit aromatics.

12oz can dated 2025Dec30 and served in a tumbler. Brilliant amber color with great clarity and little head formation. Fresh hop aroma, slightly floral. Flavor has a moderate and resinous bitterness. I've enjoyed dank IPAs in the past, and this one is OK, but a bit too bitter, without enough flavor for my tastes.

Super tall can (19.2) from an ABC in Waikiki at 2 for $9, not bad. This is a solid WC IPA but considering I live in SD and frequent Pizza Port, there is something left to be desired. It’s dank and pungent but average in the end.

From another source:
West coast (San Diego) style IPA. Two-row, wheat and light crystal 15 malt makes for an IPA that is pale in color while Ctz, Simcoe, Citra, and Amarillo hops offer up the hoppy bitterness expected of the style. Big Citra dry hop makes for an unmistakable citrus quality on the nose.

Hello and goodby to an IPA that is Oahu in a glass.
Pouring golden and slight amber, Hop Lei is as inviting as a flowery necklace as it carries a mild haze and a scent of citrus and mild tropical fruit that hover over a cottony white froth. Mild caramel and honey decorate the early palate with a light toasty and nutty grain taste that leads to an upstart of granola.
The hops come to life as the middle palate washes the tastebuds with citrusy orange peel and pink grapefruit. With hints of pineapple lurking behind, a more tropical taste looms. Tightening its grip on the late palate, the hops develop into bitter and dry taste with pine resins, citrus peel and fresh cut grasses.
Medium bodied and trending dry and bitter, Aloha carries a west-coast demeanor with a refreshingly bitter character and slight hints of hop-derived astringency. A long after palate of bitterness of fruit peels extend into the next sip.

From the can, it pours a slightly hazy golden color with some slight orange color and a modest white head that soon diminishes to a ring. The nose gets some citrus and grassy hops. The mouth follows with some bitterness with citrus highlights.

Draft at an HNL airport bar in a chilled weizen glass.
Perfectly reasonable, bitter west coast IPA. Pours golden with a tiny tinge of orange. Smells mild, cotrusy, grassy. Malt opening fades fast to hop, bitter lemon, starfruit. Light on the palate for 6.5%.
If you like bitter, refreshing, and less weighty IPAs, this will serve you well.

Excellent IPA, golden amber coloring and slightly fruity smell, but not overpowering. Incredibly clean and fresh on the palate with the perfect hoppiness - a touch of initial bitterness but finishes nicely for those who like IPA's that arent too strong with the hoppiness or bitter taste that lingers too long. A great beer and one of my faves.
