Dark brown with copper highlights, this brew was served with a thin tan head which lingers for a good while. The aroma is sweet and malty, with hints of chocolate and hops. The taste is sweet and fruity up front, with wonderful plum and raisin notes. A hint of smokiness is also readily apparent. Towards the finsh, coffee and strong roasted malt notes appear, both with a dark chocolate coating. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, with the lower carbonation enhancing the silkiness on the tongue. The drinkability is excellent, which could be dangerous according to one of the brewers, Tom Cardle (the other is Dave Henderson). This beer is a bit stronger than most of their offerings. This is truly an exceptional brew that I'll try to return for soon.
