Going through old notebooks and I really didn’t need my notes this was so bad it left such an impression on me
Bottled in clear glass that poured a flat looking light brown drink
Aroma had some notes of dark sugars
Flavour was tin & wet cardboard

A 330ml clear glass bottle with a BB of Nov 2014, so it's a bit out of date. Acquired a while back from a discount store. The label says 'rum-flavoured beer' - to be honest I'm not entirely sure what that means.

A: Poured into a straight pint glass. A clear golden colour with some slight floating sediment and plentiful carbonation. Forms a large head of creamy white foam with good retention; this settles as a thick surface layer.

S: Aroma of sweet artificial fruity notes with hints of tutti-frutti, lime, sugar, ultra-light malt and a whisper of stewed leaves. Not awful but not particularly beer-like either.

T: Tastes of very sweet fruit flavouring with a slightly harsh finish. Notes of sugar/sweetener, tutti-frutti, lime, faint malt, vague stewed leaves and a twinge of acrid cardboard in the background. No bitterness to speak of; a lingering sweetness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with spritzy carbonation and a thin, watery body. Mildly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of sugar, sweet fruity flavour and a hint of stewed leaves.

O: Meh - kinda gross. Looks alright but this is the only good feature. Aroma and flavour are heavily dominated by sweet fruity notes and little else. Watery body. Basically a sweetened ready-to-drink with a hint of beer. Not really sure where the rum is supposed to come into it - perhaps the idea is more the evocation of a rum-based cocktail. Anyway, unless you want instant tooth decay I'd steer clear of this.
