is it really possible that this thing is as strong as it is? this is like bourbon county without the barrels, which seems nonsensical, but when you taste this crazy beer, it makes great sense, totally logical. it is so big and flavorful, bold, maybe not as ridiculously sweet as something like the creme brulee from southern tier, way more drinkable and far less diabetic. i could have a whole one of these, not true there. there are subtle eggy vanilla custard notes to this, but licorice too, and dried fruit and dark cocoa, but its never too much. the fact the abv is so well hidden too really blows me away. smooth as anything, with a lingering sweet chocolate complexion. i know they do this one in different barrels, and i am looking forward to the opportunity to try one of those, but this one doesnt need a whole lot. i like the depth but also the simplicity, its just a really good strong ale. id love to know more about the process, and given how nice and open these folks are, im sure they would share their secrets...
