this is an absurd beverage, on the edge of not even really being beer, its pretty impressive, and i love how these guys just keep pushing and innovating. they have figured something out with these big dark ones, thats for sure. silky smooth and quite thick, but not sticky and sweet as they go, especially for being a milk stout, it was surprisingly less tooth rotting and diabetic than i anticipated. its also oddly not that alcoholic in its taste, sure its strong, but to guess its over 13% abv is not possible. not much head on it, and definitely not much carbonation, but this is like an old ale or something, you dont really miss it much. huge roast to this, caramel middle is there, but bitter coffee grounds and raw cocoa take over. its as bitter as it is sweet, which is an awesome way to balance bold with bold, and its full bodied without feeling like syrup. i think this is a risky and clever beer to make, and pretty impressive execution. its perfectly named, and scary easy to drink a few glasses of before you know what hits you. great depth on the grain, long lingering finish on the tongue. these guys really need more credit, i think their whole portfolio is worthwhile, and their hits are world class. this one will get some attention if they keep making it...
