not used to seeing a mild ale this strong in abv, but the beer is great, a medium colored english mild ale brewed with mint, an odd combination to be sure, but it works well thanks to good proportions and restraint with the mint. foamy light brown from the tap with a herbaceous fresh mint nose, not pepperminty or holiday feeling, and not sharp or spearminty either, mellow. its nice with the light cocoa note and the english grains, the breadiness of the yeast, and the overall simplicity of the base beer, a little bit goes a long way. thats true in the flavor too, where the mint is natural and fresh and almost tea-like in here, but never intense or dominant at all. its fresh and uplifting though, nice for summer and a cool contrast to the sturdier malt base here, dry baking chocolate and long boiled crystal malt, almost a baby barleywine sort of base, and the english yeast drying it out pretty good at the end, just the freshness of the mint lingering for a moment after the swallow. a cool idea here and nice execution, i dont mind it being a little stronger and i think the mint is a great add to this style!
