On tap at the brewpub in Coeur d'Alene in August 2009. Couldn't put this review in with the rest of my backlog earlier, as this place was listed as closed for a period of time.

Pours a golden color with a white head and not much lacing though the retention was halfway decent. The nose is slightly hoppy with a bit of light grassy notes. The taste was ever-so-moderately bitter with some grass and pine. Fairly light feel and slightly dry in the finish. Not terrible, but not all that good.

Stopped in for a late pint on Thursday night... reviewed from notes.

Nice rocky white head atop a lightly hazed deep golden brew.. descent retention and lacing.

Nose is really malt forward with only hints of layered hoppiness.. bits of citrus and more spicy hops... can smell diacetyl at arms length... ughhh.

Flavor is a diacetyl bomb... buttery... corny.... combined with the thick malt profile and a bit heavy handed caramel, I can barely choke it down... slick on the palate despite a good carbonation... the diacetyl only gets worse as it warms up.

No love for this one... It's been a long time since I've had one of their beers that wasn't the huckleberry, but I remember the one with the green label having heavy diacetyl problems too.

Appearance- It is not a bad looking beer it is not your typical IPA colors. It is more of a gold color than most IPA's but not color all the same. Nice head and lace a little bit of fizz in the body.

Smell- It has very nice floral aroma followed by hoppy and malt sweetness.

Taste- Hoppy but not overdone. The hops were spicy and citrus like. The aftertaste was bit too sour though.

Mouthfeel- A thin bodied beer with a lot of residual flavor.

Drinkability- An average brewpub IPA.

I had a couple of pints of Rockford Bay IPA at the Steam Plant Grill. Served in a pint glass.

Pours a deep gold color and is slightly hazy. Foamy white head is fairly resilient. Delicate thin lace adorns the glass.

Smell is a sweet floral, citrus aroma. Orange blossom perhaps.

Taste is a mildy hoppy flavor in the British IPA style. Not as hopped up as most American IPAs.

Mouthfeel is crisp and well carbonated.

A very drinkable IPA. Smooth and mellow, not the mouth puckering experience that some IPAs can be.

I was served a three ounce sample at the Alehouse in Moscow, ID.

A: It poured a very clear light golden color with slight bone white head that dissipated quickly and left little lacing.

S: There was a distinct aroma of earthy, grassy hops with an undercurrent of sweet malts.

T: I'm not a hop head so the bitter hop dominance was a bit too over the top for me. There were sharp spices and powerful grapefruit flavors.

M: Thin body, bitter front and slightly bitter and sour aftertaste.

D: I'd find it hard to finish one let along multiples.

Comment: This brew would be well served by a malt boost to balance the hops and give the beer some dimensionality.

Bottled sample given by a friend of the brewery.

A hazy golden beer. Decent lacing as it goes.

A limited floral nose...very limited.
Fist taste is sweet little malts, a bit of hop bitterness kicks in, but very limited. A hint of honey. An off funk - hard to believe this is fresh - but I know it is.

This is an easy drinking beer, but lacks hop bitterness or flavor to be an IPA. OK - there now - that said, some sweet simple malt flavors, a funky backing of hops - somethings not quite right here.

Will have to come back and try again on tap versus this off- bottled version.

Had this on-tap at the Coeur d'Alene Brewing Co.'s main brewpub in Coeur d'Alene. It was happy hour, so it was only $2.

The beer was a clear, slightly dark gold color, with a big white head that dropped quickly. Moderate amount of lace.

This had a vague hoppy spiciness to it, but it was pretty restrained. I could have believed it if someone told me it was a regular pale ale. Not offensive smelling, but there isn't too much going on here.

Taste was pretty similar to the smell. There was a very mild, spicy hoppiness that never seems to come into it's own. Not bad tasting, but that's about the best you can say of it.

A little too watery. This could use a little more body.

Not a horrible beer, but a disappointing IPA nevertheless. This could be marketed as a pale ale with no serious repercussions. In fact, it is better than CDA's Centennial Pale Ale, since the latter has serious diacetyl issues. Hopheads beware!
