330 ml can, from SPAR Jørpeland. ABV is 4.5%. Golden colour, only slightly hazy. Large white head. Pleasant aroma of fruity hops, hints of spruce too. Refreshing flavour with a slight sweetness and fruity hops, not very bitter. Easy drinking.

The past couple of days have been an amazing CANmalgam of Goses & Pilsners, but now my supply is exhausted. I had the Duvel as kind of an oddball, but it will lead me back to some of the breweries from which I reviewed beers the last couple of days, including Transmitter, Manayunk (CANayunk), Sly Fox, Conshohocken (CANshohocken), Sloop & Great North. Following that excursion, I will be focusing on imports for a while, bringing me full circle to that one. Stay tuned. It's gonna be CANother wild ride on The CANQuest (tm)! These next three (3) were brought back for me by a local trivia teammate who travels a good bit for work. Thanks, Rod!

From the CAN: "Hoppy Blonde Sassy Blonde Ale"; "A light and fruity malt body makes her an irresistible thirst quencher this is low in bitterness and big on wow. Great with food, a beauty on her own - this is one refreshing glass of craft."; "Bryggeri - 63° N".

I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. Why? Because the last thing that The CANQuest (tm) wants to get a reputation for is abusing Blondes, and a Hoppy one, at that. Apparently, this one responds well to gentility & responded by foaming up to form just under two fingers of fizzy, foamy, rocky, bone-white head that quickly disappeared like sea foam. Color was a drop-dead gorgeous Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5), causing The Gelt Gang of Croesus, Mammon & Midas to CANmit drinkus interruptus & walk in on Blondie & I, demanding a taste before they would leave! 8=( She was a tad nonplussed, but I assured her that we are old friends & so we CANtinued where we left off. Nose gave the lie (?)/misnomer(?) to the name since it was not at all hoppy, but instead VERY bready & malty, like proofing dough. Mmm. The taste was like reading the Style Guide's description: "... an easy-drinking beer that is visually appealing and has no particularly dominating malt or hop characteristics. Rounded and smooth, it is … known for its simplicity." Right! IMHO, they bumped the pooch with that "Hoppy" bushwah in the name. It tasted toasted white bread drizzled with honey. Perfect! Say no more. Finish was in that Twilight Zone between semi-sweet & semi-dry. Mmm. YMMV.

A 330ml can with a BB of June 2018, so it's a little out of date. ABV is stated as 4.5%. Acquired a while back from a webshop. I like the mermaid on the label....

A: Poured into a tulip. Can-conditioned. A hazy orange-amber colour with light carbonation and tons of floating sediment. Yields a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or two before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing.

S: Aroma of subdued fruity hops with hints of melon, vague white grape, white fruits, mild hay, fruity ale yeast, light earthiness and subtle caramel malt. OK.

T: Tastes of mild fruity hops with notes of white fruits, melon, faint white grape, hay, fruity ale yeast, earthiness, grain and faint caramel malt. Slightly sweet, followed by a delicate, understated bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with soft carbonation and decent body. Lightly astringent. Aftertaste of fruity, floral hops, mild white fruit, earthiness, ale yeast and subtle malt.

O: Alright but probably past its best. Looks OK, while the aroma and flavour showcase light, fruity hop notes underpinned by earthy ale yeast and subtle caramel malt. Decent body. Probably more vibrant when fresher. A decent effort - worth sampling.
