Crowler at RBSG 17 courtesy of Hayduke. medium amber body with a small frothy head. Hoppy aroma leans towards floral and resinous, some malty character. Malts move up a bit in the taste, some caramel, then a bit of a bitter finish. Not outstanding, but OK.

just my second ever beer from these guys, their stuff rarely makes it down to boise, and i just have not been up that way enough. this was a gift from a friend who visited recently! a really nice ipa, incredibly fresh, slightly old school but robust on all counts, and a little stronger than i realized when i was drinking it, pretty good pop to this one. its got a light caramel color to it, not quite red or amber, but richer looking than the paler types that have come into fashion, some haze here too but this isnt a new england style ipa. the head is off white and creamy thick with great retention, and the carbonation is peppy and uplifting. aroma here is hops first with pine and juniper, some oily character to it, bitter, some stone fruit, and sturdy grain, bready and baked but not sweet to me. the flavor is similar, great back and forth here between the malt and the hops, definitely a freshness to both, and some autumnal vibes to the base of this, fuller bodied, slightly warming, subtle toffee and almond layers, but the hops push right through with bitter orange, dried grass, and fresh pine character, clean on the ferment too, impressively so even, and relatively fast finishing, just the hop bitterness lingering on the palate. very nice beer, anyone who likes hoppy brews should be a fan of this, technically very good and pretty beefy for the colder months. nicely done! thanks to my homie for hooking it up!
