my buddy has been awesome about hooking me up with crowlers from these guys, and all the beer has been solid so far, each one seems as good or better than the last, and its been a ton of fun to drink through their stuff, cannot wait to check out the brewery later this spring when we go up there! if this is all idaho 7 hops, its a cool expression of them, sometimes i can get onion from this varietal, but not here, its clean and brisk and floral, just a little bit grassy and bitter, but never vegetal or onion tasting or anything at all, and no green bite either, there is a real freshness and life to this that draws me in. you cant ask anything more from the appearance, its fairly clear golden toned with a lot of rising bubbles and a high white shaving cream thick head that rises and even stays above the rim of my glass, gorgeous, ring lacing as it drinks too. the nose is a little sweeter than the taste, the hops drive it, with pine notes, new tennis balls, and oily wet hops even, so rad, better and better as it warms too. the flavor is more bitter up front, which i didnt expect from a session type, but it really does hit. some linger too but relatively clean for being this hoppy at the same time. the malt has a light confectioners sugar thing, but its subtle, then just simple pale barley, and the ferment is tidy as can be, which is becoming a theme from these guys. the nose i think is the essence of this hop, nice in a session, unencumbered by bigger grain or alcohol elements, but it tastes just a bit more bitter than it needs to be, or rather the bitterness sets in a little early. the texture is great, light as can be but its not thin, and there is a difference, great carbonation too, they do a nice job with these crowlers. overall a very solid ipa here, no need to even call it session, this punches above its weight, and i continue to be impressed by these guys, i wish their stuff came to boise a little bit more reliably! thankful to have my homie hooking it up!
