On tap at D&T Drive Inn, Houston
A: Pours a slightly hazed brown with some ruby around the edges. A two finger beige head forms with good retention and lace.
S: Buttery popcorn up front and center. Diacetyl for sure, though for the style not necessarily out of line. It is just so up front as to detract for me. A bit of caramel and toasted malts once you get past the buttery character.
T: Like the nose, diacetyl up front, and is the entire show for the most part. Buttery malt, but a more toasted character comes out after you get use to the butter. Still, not all that pleasant.
M/D: A light body with crisp carbonation. Maybe just a bit thin. Fairly average here. To much buttery, diacetyl like malts. I did not really care to finish the pint, and am probably not coming back for more.
I have really enjoyed lots of Oasis. They make simple, low ABV styles that I love. Though this had to much buttery flavors going on. With most English styles, I can deal with that, but it is just too up front here with nothing else to counter.
