El Grito Gose Lager is a 4.3% ABV sour brewed with lime juice and sea salt--our tribute to the margarita. Then we dry-hop with Citra. Light in color, crisp, dry with an excellent balance of tart, citrus and salty. We then lager El Grito for 3-4 weeks for clarity and flavor. Available May to August in cans and on draft.

the lager aspect of this is what makes it intriguing to me, there are enough lightly tart gose types with lime juice in the wrld now, but i am unaware of any that has been lagered like this. perhaps soured in the traditional way and then only fermented with lager yeast? maybe just extended time in the fermenter at cold temperature when the ale yeast was close to finished. either way, i think its a success, although i could take a little more yeast character in this, if its a lager strain, its awfully light, and lost largely to the acidity and lime, but there is a nice crispness to this. at the same time though, if i didnt know it was lagered, i might just appreciate it as a crisp and dry example of the style without really knowing it, its not obvious unless i really think about it. i like how fresh the lime is, and how reserved the salt is, it lets this stay light and natural and simple, more drinkable than many, which is awesome with these summery session type flavors. not too sour either, and clean in that regard, with some very light fresh wheat and pils type malts in here supporting. overall a well made beer, i think its unique process should be more obvious in the flavor, not just the feel, but its a cool thought and i hope to see more of it in kettle sours moving forward!
