If clean sourness in ale making is of utmost yearning, then the Berlinerweiss wins best of show. But piled high with mango and passionfruit, and 450 North's slushy-style ale is nearly euphoric in its fruit and acidic portrayal.
So, the aptly named Mango Passionfruit Slushy pours with the visual density and the matte pastel finish of orange juice (with extra pulp). Nearly achingly fruit filled aromas of overt passionfruit and mango waft over the senses with the gusto of fruit punch and sangria. The sweetness of fructose slathers the front of the tongue with honeysuckle, sourdough and taffy.
But let's skip all the subtlety; the middle palate is all about the branch ripe flavors of those tropical fruit additions and the backdrop of cider, white wine and lime that makes the passionfruit and mango taste even more like passionfruit and mango. Sherbet-like in its creaminess, the tangy acidity serves as a flavor amplifier heading into a briskly tart late palate.
Medium bodied but only because of the density of fruit, the beer drinks more like a sangria slushy than anything relatable as beer. Its nearly grotesque the seduction that this fruited sour ale has over the tastebuds of beer drinkers, but its sheer fruit portrayal is undeniable and irresistible, right down to a medium short finish of sourdough and cider.

This is straight Answer Joose. The passion fruit is sticky tart, almost bringing the full on slime effect you'll get from enjoying fresh, natural passion fruit in your face, with a supporting velvety mango body that adds the vibrant neon orange color before finishing shockingly semi-dry. These guys were my second sleeper hit of Huna day this year.
