First of the batch that my wife and I are trying from the Halloween release. As the description lends, this Slushy XL is brewed with blood orange, raspberry, and grapefruit.
L: Pulpy and dull red/purple in color. Thick fruit particles make it look like coagulated blood (not really but trying to stick with the dracula theme). Very minimal head on the pour, and just fruit sediment sticks to the edge of the glass. Color is great as usual, and for what it is, love the can art.
S: Smells fantastic. Raspberry dominates but the grapefruit and blood orange aren't left far behind, lending a tart and citrusy acidity aroma to the profile.
T: Really unique yet equally enjoyable. Rapsberry tartness upfront then the blood orange comes through with grapefruit at the finish. It is tart and fruity, and the after taste screams grapefruit and blood orange.
F: Medium in body and in weight. Carbonation is on the lower end of moderate. Great feel with nice weight.
O: It is unique and the unorthodox ingredients, namely being blood orange and grapefruit, finds itself straying from the more traditional 450N slushy ingredients. Overall, while it is not my or my wife's absolute favorite, it offers a unique flavor profile that makes it well worth the try. We love grapefruit and orange, so naturally the flavors these bring are appreciated. As always, I am very glad to try. Cheers!
