Taking a short break from their slushy ways, 450 North steps into the haze with a mosaic and Bru-1 soaked IPA with the same backbone of creamy malts that the brewery just can't resist.

Dirty goldenrod and captive in a fine silted haze, Superhero Nuggets builds a lofty white froth while carrying a scent of citrus, tropical fruit, cannabis, grassiness and melon across the nose. As its creamy collection of grains and malt swirl about the early palate, a sense of wafers, bread dough and honey coat the tongue.

As the grain sweetness slowly releases from the tongue, the middle palate ushers in an abundance of hop flavors to reveal fruity impressions of orange, white grapefruit and lime. Not to be outdone, a more tropical taste of pineapple, mango and passionfruit rises to meet the citrusy taste before developing a peppery bitterness of black tea, peppery grasses, hemp, fruit peel and fresh cedar.

Finishing on the fuller side of malty-dry and with a bitter-sweet balance siding with the sweetness, the ale finishes with a gin-like botanical quality and with a medium-long afterglow of muddled fruit peel, tea and hemp once more.

This is the first 450 North beer I've tried. Tasty and balanced, but due to the insanely huge variety of IPAs with wide distribution, it feels sort of unfair to say that there was nothing particularly remarkable about it. Even so, I have recently been trying harder to support Indiana breweries, and it's good to know that there is a beer of this caliber just an hour down the road. I'd gladly choose this over comparable out-of-state beers. I'm looking forward to trying more of their stuff.

Note: I dislike rating beer using BA's scoring system, so don't pay too much attention to the numbers.
The bottom line is that it's a solid offering that I'd happily drink again.
