This is the first time I gave into the hype that is 450 North. When I put in an online order through Half Time, I saw they had a few of their beers available. These shits are expensive! But I caved, and settled on this one, a kettle soured beer aged on actual carrot cake. I would ask if people actually buy these beers, but here I am doing it anyways. Let's take a plunge into this weird thing

Pours a hazy bright gold with 2 fingers of white head that fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing. Upon. further inspection, there is so much sediment from the fruit and spices that it kinda looks like someone puked in there. Okay???

Yep, that sure does smell like a carrot cake, a flavor profile that I'm not so sure should be sour. I'm picking up on aromas of carrot cake, orange juice, lemon rind, brown sugar, fresh dough, and creamy vanilla

Much to my surprise, there's actually a decent amount of tartness in this one taste-wise. I was expecting a full blown sweet overload upon smelling it. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting pulpy orange juice, vanilla bean, brown bread, cinnamon, and carrot cake. The swallow brings notes of tart lemon rind, orange juice, carrot cake, and brown sugar

A medium full body pairs with gentle airy carbonation, resulting in a very thick beer. Finishes extremely sticky with a surprising amount of tartness, but not enough to cut through

This was certainly an interesting beer. I'm happy to have tried it and liked it well enough, but I don't understand how people repeatedly pay $10 and up for single cans of their beer
