its beers like this that make me ask myself what we are even doing anymore. some brewery for god knows where indiana becomes a hype machine with new school smoothie and slushy and slurpee beers, or whatever we are calling them these days. there is very little here that smells, feels, or tastes like beer. no hops, no grain, no yeast, these are pure fruit drinks, puree out the wazoo i would think, pretty high degree of authenticity, weird, almost senseless combinations of flavors, this one included, it makes no sense at all, but the kids appear to be lapping this stuff up, and to be honest its hard to be too critical, once we leave behind the concept of beer being made from grain and hops and yeast, because those arent really part of this. this is one of the thickest beers ive ever seen in the glass, its chunky and pulpy and straight up the texture of a smoothie. its beet juice purple, actually holds a flamingo pink head, and leaves an insane amount of milky leggy sediment when its gone, like the glass almost needs to be thrown away rather than washed, exotic and weird, and a little gross too. the nose and taste are the same, all fruit, blueberry and banana lead this one for me, mushy like baby food i reckon, lots of vanilla too, a little tartness but this isnt really sour in any traditional sense, tangy at most, and so sweet from vanilla cream, ice cream, and marshmallow, which take this totally over the top into the diabetic range. small doses only for me with this sort of beer, but there is no denying this tastes good, and its better than what so many others are doing in this style space, but my god who can drink a whole can of this, let alone multiples?! other fruits sort of meld together in here, but its good. palate coating to say the very least, filling, this drinks like breakfast, like there could be 700 calories in it, so weird that this is trendy. i had fun trying some of their beers in a recent session, this stuff is way out there, at the outer edges of really even being beer. trying to accept it for what it is, i dont even know...

Poured from a 16 ounce can into a tulip glass.
Look- Medium violet, scant sudsy pink head, zero head retention, visible particulate at edges, opaque, granular residue on the glass wall.
Smell- Black cherry, banana, vanilla, strawberry, high strength of scent.
Taste- Banana, black cherry, strawberry, vanilla, high strength of flavor.
Feel- Full body, silky, moderately sour, moderately sweet, below average carbonation.
Overall- Medium violet and opaque with zero head retention. Bouquet was high strength, but very reminiscent of cough medicine. Flavor was also high in strength with banana, black cherry, strawberry and vanilla. The flavors were much less medicinal than the nose. Feel was a silky full body with moderate sour and sweetness. Overall this beer provided an enjoyable experience, but the medicinal properties were a definite detractor.

16 oz. can
Pours opaque chunky purple with fruit floaties and a quickly dissipating purple grey foam head. Smells like strong banana, black cherry, blueberry, strawberry, marshmallow fluff, vanilla cream, with strong floral and astringent notes. Tastes like a puréed fruit smoothie, dark berries, black cherry, strawberry, blueberry, banana, vanilla cream, ice cream, marshmallow, with floral hoppy notes. Feels medium-light bodied, creamy slick with moderate smooth carbonation. Overall a nice fruited smoothie-style sour ale.
