Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at Craft Beer Cellar, Belmont, MA
Served in a tulip

The beer poured a thick, somewhat goopy and completely opaque, vibrant tangerine hue. A sticky mass of large bubbled, light orange froth topped the body, but it quickly dissolved. There was zero lacing, but a wall of fine sediment coated the glass from top to bottom.

The aroma was impressive albeit rather simplistic. Passionfruit came through strongest. I thought I picked up some ripe mango too, even though there was none listed in the ingredients. Subtle grapefruit notes were also detectable. As the beer sat, the passionfruit mellowed and the mango intensified. The jackfruit made its presence known as well.

The flavor profile mirrored the nose. Loads of passionfruit up front. Again, I thought I picked up some mango (and possibly guava too) even though this beer contained none of either. Subtle grapefruit notes came through on the back end and the finish. Hint of bitterness. With time, the mango, the guava and the overall sweetness intensified.

Nice rich, viscous mouthfeel. Completely full bodied for the style. The massive amount of fruit purée also gave the liquid a slick, slippery quality. A super fine, subtle effervescence worked nicely in this style of beer.

450 North’s Slushy Series offerings are always over the top in nearly ever aspect, and this beer was no different. Although Filet of Fruit was somewhat kitschy, and while I might have completed missed the dragonfruit and star fruit additions, it was still really enjoyable and dangerously crushable.
