Have you ever been caught in a spot where you want eat ice cream cone and drink ice cream cone? Ever want a moderate amount of booze to go along with it? Well then relax, 450 North is giving in to our unrealistic demands with a smoothie ice cream sour ale with a little booze and enough texture to chew.
Slushy XXL Tutti Fruitti Cone pours into the glass with a muddy rust coat on the glass. pouring nearly like buttermilk, the visual consistency and patient pull of froth is quite the spectacle. And its sweet fruits of cherry, pineapple, apricot, orange and banana seem the stuff of candy stores and pastry shops, a heavy vanilla laced scent is quite perfumy. Jammy sweet with its very first sip, a dense ice cream flavor is creamy, cereal-like and plump with vanilla and graham cracker.
The savory vanilla wafer character carries the essence of waffle cone and honey glaze to nearly pin-point perfection, but a complement of fruit tartness offer a light reprieve from the simplicity of powdered sugar and milkshake flavor. Trending heavy on the cherries, the late palate culminates in a taste that's more of cherry cream and ambrosia salad than of the classic Tuttti-Fruitti character that's advertised.
Plush, pillowy and rife with sweet cherry, this again a very un-beer-like experience. It probably needed to be served with a spoon as its basically alcoholic milkshake and perfect for the beer lover that's looking for dessert at a bar.
