The battle wages on between smoothie and sour ale as 450 North gleefully sets the stage for such an epic fight. chocked full with mango, tangerine, passionfruit, vanilla and cream, this beer finds victory over the tastebuds with thunderous applause.
Thunder vs Trickster pours with the visual density and the matte finish of orange juice with extra pulp. Nearly achingly fruit filled aromas of tropical, citrus and cream waft over the senses with the gusto of sorbet and sangria. The sweetness of fructose slathers the front of the tongue with honey, sherbet, sourdough and taffy.
But let's skip all the subtlety; the middle palate is all about the branch ripe flavors of those passionfruit, mango and tangerine additions, and the backdrop of cider, white wine and lemon that makes the fruits taste even more radiant and ripe . Sherbet-like in its creaminess, the tangy acidity serves as a flavor amplifier heading into a briskly tart taste late on the palate, having the senses thinking of alcoholic Tang.
Full bodied because of the density of fruit, the beer drinks more like a sangria slushy than anything relatable as beer. Its nearly grotesque that the seduction that this fruited sour ale has over the tastebuds of beer drinkers. Not sure if this thing is a beer, but it sure is tasty.
