Slushy Collector Cup Series Wax Cup – from 450 North Brewing. A 16 fl oz can was purchased from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA on 08/12/23 for $ 9.50 (Including tax), $ 0.594/fl oz. Reviewed 01/01/24 (Review 3207). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 48.3 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 59.3 degrees F.
Appearance – 3.5
First pour – Looks like orange juice, opaque.
Body – Looks like orange juice, opaque.
Head: Average (Maximum two cm, aggressive center pour), lemon chiffon yellow, high density and fizzy, short retention, dropping to no crown or cap, just a broken ring of bubbles.
Lacing – A few tiny pieces of fruit hang on the sides of the glass.
Aroma – 4.25 – Weak tropical fruity and slightly sweet, no distinct fruits. No malt, no hops, no yeast, no alcohol (5.3% ABV as marked on the label).
Flavor – 4.25 – Sweet and fruity with mango predominating, followed by tangerine. No beer flavors. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. No gastric warming. Ends slightly sour.
Palate – 4 – Full; creamy; soft but lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated personal container) Not fizzy enough to be a mimosa but excellent flavor. Not a beer at all, just a tasty low alcohol aromatic fruit drink, emphasis on the tasty. In fact, it’s hard not to gulp the whole glass.
