The continual blur of the lines that separates sour ale from breakfast beverages, 450 North is content to ride that boundary with oranges, tangerines, limes and lemonade for what's basically an cure for scurvy.

Just like fresh-squeezed juice in the glass, Orange Splash pours exactly like orange juicy with extra pulp while teasing nose with a tangy orange-laden citurs lemon and lime scent. A drift of soft serve ice cream with the tangy hints of tropical fruit lead to a bunch-like coctail taste with bellini, sorbet and screwdriver as the initial taste is dense with cereal and citrus.

As the smoothie sour splashes the tastebuds, its nearly teeth coating tartness is intense. Juicy and rich. Notions of smoothie, slushie and creamsicle come to mind. As the suggestions of mango and apricot folds into cocktail flavors, the suggestions of vanilla and cream soothe the senses before a brisk acidity steps in late. Finishing with a strong lean toward the oranges, a light and pithy bitterness only sells the orange peel character even more.

Full bodied, tangy and firmly meant as an alcoholic push-up, the sweet orange remnants outlast any sourness as a long aftertaste of fruit puree takes the session into a creamy brunch booze direction.
