apparently different than the hawaiian juice version of this, the bomb pop looks like another iteration of this series, so weird and crazy how not beery these are, how many of them they make, and how much people are freaking out about them, makes no sense to a guy who likes a little grain and hops in his beer, but hey, this is the future right? doing my best to embrace these and get to know them a bit, and it seems to me like these are gold standard level for this sort of thing, but its a challenge to get into a beer i couldnt even imagine drinking a whole can of. passion fruit, pineapple, mango, papaya, guava, apricot, and orange in this, yet somehow it tastes like peach nectar, thick like that too, looks like murky fruit concentrate from the can that you find in the freezer aisle and add water to, do those still exist? curiously this manages some carbonation. i get the apricot for sure, mango too, pulpy and sweet, then the orange as the acidity creeps up, but this isnt really sour. i think it smells a little better than it tastes, almost candy on the palate and it approximates a melted popsicle pretty well, although ive never heard of this flavor of bomb pop before, who comes up with this stuff? orange hard candy, tropical smoothie, and maybe the faintest bit of wheat or something, but it stays pretty well away from beer ingredient character. its so thick its hard to drink, feels chunky and chalky to me on the palate, which works against the juice thing, but the flavors are tasty, intense as they are. a fun one to try, but it baffles me that these are becoming lifestyle drinks for the younger generation. i think 450 north is doing a better (and bolder!) job with these than most, so tip of the cap for that...
