Taking their brewers to the pastry shop, 450 North doesn't hold back when drawing inspiration from blueberry butter cake.
Pouring a dark and neon mauve, Blueberry Gooey Budder Cake takes on extra large proportions in a smoothie-style sour ale that carries a dark pink and fizzy froth along with a juicy scent of pie filling, cake batter and jam. Much of the same translates to taste in a creamy, sweet and richly textures combination of malt and cereal grain seemingly of poundcake, slushy and marshmallow fluff. With the strong blueberry flavors skirting over more neutral undertones of cider, wine, lemon, lime and gooseberry, the tart finish is accompanied with a bitter, pectin bite.
Full bodied, plush and tangy, the sour ale sells the cake flavors well until the unsettled bitter bite that closes out the session lie aspartame and chewable vitamins.
