Tackling the full lineup of Nightmare Christmas ales, 450 North brings in the reinforcements of Arkane Aleworks to help with this extra large, blackberry, cinnamon and vanilla laces smoothie sour ale.
This tandem is Simply Meant To Be, pouring densely and darkly mauve with a wall of opaqueness and a indistinguishable separation of beer from froth. As a luscious scent of macerated, dried and condensed dark berry scent engulfs the senses so do notions of spice, maple and butter pecan.
And that same taste and texture extends deep onto the middle palate, coating the mouth with jammy sweetness, maple syrup, vanilla and praline. With the tepid tartness of red wine, green apple, passionfruit, gooseberry, lemon and lime pull from the beer’s sour underpinning, the balance stays with the fruit and sugar density
Finishing slightly spicy with cinnamon and sourness, the ale closes with a blend of fruit preserves laced with wine cooler.
