With the events of Mardi Gras in the near horizon, 450 North sets their sight on the quentesstial round globs that the party is known for- melons! Awash with watermelon, drink mix and cucumber, this gluten free drinkie-drink might be beer, it might be something else.
Pouring a somewhat silted burnish gold and sepia color, Melon Masquerade pours hazy but off of the turbidity that which the brewery is known. But its radiant and juicy scent is up to par, flooding the nose with melon cocktail. Simple syrups, agave and lychee sweetness greets the togue and highlights the sweeter melon fructose.
With a splash of fruity sugars against the middle palate, the juicy refreshment of watermelon comes with a kiss of cucumber to suggest fruity flavors of lime and herbal flavors of basil. With no hop balance in sight, the session flows into a cocktail-like finish of sweet herbalness.
Full bodied for sour ale but juicy and radiant regardless, the unbeer-like beer proves to be much more of a fruit forward seltzer than anything else.

Green, it is literally green. With a greenish tinted head. Nose was melon and slightly pungent. Taste was not as bad as I thought it would be. Melon, zesty sour. all things you would expect. Did I mention it was green?
