Finally craft beer lovers have something that they can cheers and say "This bud's for you". ...as long as they lover smoothie sour ale built with blueberries.
In such a case, 450 North's Blueberry Gooey Budder Cake aren't quite the words or flavors that our dad's had, but we find them in an opaque deep mauve, purple and dark lavender pour. As a tangy scent of dark berries flood the nose so do notions of wine cooler, citrus, cider and cream. Fruity sweetness of macerated fruits layer the tongue with candy and cream while the tangy zeal of blueberries are propped up with lime, lemon, gooseberry and green apple. Trailing tartness is playful but not all that sour, trending into a slightly tannic red wine finish.
Full bodied, creamy and drinking like smoothie rather than beer, any measure of beer comparisons fall short, but this ale has got to bud for someone.
