Caught somewhere between seltzer and cocktail, 450 North's smoothie sour ale that swirls around pomegranate, pear and coconut may seem like a nightmare come to life for those seeking more beer flavored beer.
Pale with gold and chrome hues, the moderately hazy Leather's Links immediately lures in the senses with candied fruit, juicy scents and a hint of cereal sweetness. Much of the same jump right out as the flavors of gummy bear, lychee, agave and floral nectar add slices and slices of candied fruitiness. With no hop presence and little balance beyond the fruits, even a sour offset of sweetness is mild and soft.
Imagine a liquified sucker taking on five percent in alcohol and that's what has been given to us.
