Poured from a bottle into a tall glass. Deep golden Amber with a nice beige head and good lacing. Nice smell with a toasted bread and light fruit smells. The taste has caramel and a bit of chocolate with the fruit, maybe some peaches and pears. Nice beer!

Poured gently at 47°F from a 12oz bottle into a Pilsner glass.
SMELL: A strong and sweet combination of caramel, fig, plum, and black cherry aromas are balanced by mild aromas of white bread, peaches, pears, white grapes, and bitter black tea along with subtle spicy hop, smoked goodness, and bittersweet chocolate aromas. 4.5
TASTE: A sweet introduction is made by strong flavors of caramel, figs, plums, and black cherries. Mild flavors of peaches, white grapes, and pears amplify the sweetness as mild flavors of smoked goodness present a nice, bittering balance. The pleasant bitterness is increased as mild black tea and subtle bittersweet chocolate flavors make their debut while flavors of peach, pears, and white grapes grow stronger. The flavor symphony ends with mild spicy hops and white bread flavors as bittersweet chocolate flavors grows slightly stronger and all other previous ones persist.
NOTE: This was a bit of a distance from a traditional Doppelbock. The pear, peach, and white grape flavors reminded me of a Blonde Ale while the black tea and smoked goodness brought up gustatory memories of a Scotch Ale. The caramel, white bread, dark fruit, and spicy hop flavors of the Doppelbock were there, which was great. This was a bizarre hybrid of a Doppelbock/Blonde Ale/Scotch Ale, however; the strange can be tasty sometimes as this beer definitely rocked my palate.
