Amber color with cascading effervescence. 1/2 inch head that persists. Perfumed treacly smell that is overwhelming and persists through tasting. Mildly hopped. Beautiful malt base that is ruined by the persistent smell which persists as an aftertaste. Good mouthfeel with moderate weight befitting the genre.

Appearance: Brown glass struggles to hold a thin spotty cover of off white foam. Very hazy amber edges when backlit.
Aroma: Spices, almost pumpkin pie spices, with a heavy sweet bubblegum or cola note.
Taste: Sweet base is very candy like, Sweettart with a earthy almost veggie sweet potato edge. The sweetness and spices make this pretty over the top toward a malternative type of experience. The sweetness comes across as artificially boosted somehow, butterscotch maybe? I don't think that qualifies this as a Scotch ale.
Mouthfeel: Numbing alcohol, dry finish, medium heavy body, slick texture.
Overall: May not finish it. I'll sip on it a while and see if I warm to it, but I don't think so. The butterscotch note has me thinking diacetyl. The lack of any balance has me thinking I'd enjoy something else.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter. Cloudy brown color with a nice initial head and decent lacing throughout. Sweet candy smell which carries over to the taste. Caramel and butterscotch notes with a bit of nuttiness. Not bad.
