Picked up a "crowler" at the brewery. Survived the trip back to Norfolk VA. I don't know if I would call this an AIPA or an American Wild Ale, but either way this is an outstanding beer!!! Pours a bright, hazy gold color with a small delicately bubbly head. Head retention is better than average for highly carbonated, bubbly beers. Lacing is non existent on the flute glass. Aroma is very inviting, apple, brett, vinegar and hops are all very prominent. Taste is unusual and really good. Never thought a strong sour flavor and strong hops bitterness could co-exist well in one beer. The apple, sourness and bitterness all blend in beautifully. This is really tasty. Mouthfeel is a treat as well. Vinegar, hops, yeastiness all seem to take turns on the palate. I couldn't drink the whole quart today, so I hope the rest of the beer hold up after being poured into a growler. A really good and unusual beer.
