Picked up a "crowler" at the brewery. By the way, the name needs to be changed. The Brewery spells "Tripel" correctly both on their website and with a Sharpie on the crowler I purchased. It survived a plane ride back to the East Coast and a week in my beer reefer!!!! Pours a beautiful amber/apricot color with almost no head and a thin line of lacing near the top of my Chimay goblet. Looks like plenty of head in the growler that I poured the other half of the crowler into. Hope it holds up well till tomorrow!!!!! Aroma is a bit on the light side with a little oak and booze and some pear flavoring. The taste and mouthfeel are another thing entirely. Wonderful flavor (just not a standard Tripel fare). There is light fruit here (pears), but it takes a back seat to the oak and the white wine from the barrels. Not much peppery Tripel spicing but a very rich overall flavor from fruit, booze, oak and white wine. I usually like my Tripels true to style, but this is flat out delicious!!!!! Mouthfeel is rich but a bit boozy. Most Tripels hide the alcohol enough where you drink faster than you should!!!! You know this is a slow sipper from the start with sweetness from the pear juice and bitterness from the oak barrel. I would really like to try more from this brewery. I had a sour IPA and a boozy Tripel that were both outstanding!!!!
