Can. Amber in colour. Slight haze. Frothy head which slowly subsides.
Malty aroma. Slightly sour notes.
Sweet toffee apple flavour. Rich fruit cake. Light hoppy bitterness.
Soft carbonation. Medium body.
The hops do not provide enough balance for the style.

A 330ml can with a BB of April 2018. Purchased a while back from Morrisons. The label states that this beer was named after the 1978 arcade game Space Invaders. Described as a bock that has undergone a cool fermentation and cold conditioning to achieve a clean, dry finish.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. Can-conditioned. A fantastically rich reddish-marmalade hue with hazy suspended sediment and good carbonation. Produces a vast head of creamy off-white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a patchy surface layer and finally disappearing.

S: Aroma of rich fruity malt with hints of raisins, dried fruit, yeast esters, barley sugar, grain, light earthiness and mild leafy hops. Seems a bit too fruity for the style, but pretty good nonetheless.

T: Tastes of sweet, fruity malt with notes of grain, barley sugar, mild dried fruit, yeast esters, a hint of toffee, subtle earthiness and vague leafy hops. Quite sweet, followed by an understated bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with soft carbonation and nice body. Thick and creamy on the palate, with a hint of spice. Aftertaste of fruity malt, barley sugar, grain, yeast esters, mild earthiness and faint grassy hops.

O: Not too shabby, even if it doesn't quite live up to its German counterparts. Looks amazing, while the aroma and flavour are sweet and fruity with a delicate hop character. Great body. Definitely drinkable - if you like strong lagers then this is worth sampling.
