Pours a brown'ish deep amber coloration with a medium, frothy head. Smell is totally dominated by the spices, with ginger, cardamon, nutmeg, star anise and cinnamon most noticeable and some light caramel malt coming through as well. Taste follows the nose, with a strong presence of gingerbread spice: ginger, star anise, cardamon, nutmeg, cinnamon backed up by doughy, caramel malt and some light, herbal, hoppy accents. Finishes with a very light bitterness and gingerbread spice lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This really feels like liquid gingerbread cookies, think a Pumpkin Ale turned up to 11. Good balance of spices, and light sweet and hoppy accents.
