650ml bottle - one of two new offerings created to mark the first birthday of the head brewer's twin children. Awwww.
This beer pours a slightly hazy, pale golden yellow colour, with a teeming tower of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat creamy bone-white head, which leaves some random spattered and sudsy lace around the glass as it lazily subsides.
It smells of semi-sweet florals, grainy and bready cereal malt, plain Pez candies, a bit of white pepper and coriander spice, some ephemeral yeastiness, and very tame earthy, leafy, and weedy green hop bitters. The taste is bready and doughy pale malt, a lesser wheat cracker thing, some indistinct, yet heady domestic citrus fruitiness, muddled earthy spice, a still well-behaved yeasty character, and more understated leafy, weedy, and gently perfumed floral verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is quite overwrought in its swirling and effervescent frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and more or less smooth, as the fruit and malt do well to keep things in line here. It finishes off-dry, the floral, malty, and fruity hop essences running the lingering table.
Overall - this is another very enjoyable and well-rendered Belgian-style ale (with an American hop twist) from this Lower Mainland brewing concern. Not too yeasty, and good and fruity in its hoppy glory. Great stuff, I am happy to report!
