Poured at fridge temp. Pours a very dark brown with about an inch of light brown head. The nose is really nice. Nutmeg, vanilla, and cinnamon come through immediately. Clove oil comes next. This is followed by more subtle notes of raisin bread and a bit of toffee.
The taste is interesting. Again, the spice is what dominates, which is not what I'm used to with a strong dark Belgian. The yeast isn't upfront, nor are the bready notes. Clove hits first, followed by cinnamon and nutmeg. Raisins and a touch of smoke come next. Definitely an interesting beer, but slightly off the mark for me.
