On a dark day in April, Three Floyds and Forbidden Root united over the mash tun. Forces of good and evil combined; they added cherry wood, yellow Birch, lactose and an obscene amount of hops. Their alchemy yielded a force so juicy, so full-bodied, and so complex, it caught fire--and lit up the horizon.
Special Ingredients: Lactose, Cherry & Yellow Birch wood. Hops (Amarillo, Mosaic). 40 IBU.

Growler sent overnight from the source. Dropped in the fridge and consumed promptly. Review from notes.
Hazy AF. Dull peach in color with a tight, foamy, sticky, never-ending lace.
Aroma is all fruity and floral with suggestions of blueberry, earth and wood.
Fruity AF. And hoppy AF, too. Picking up a ton of papaya, tangerine, some pine, stone fruits and hits of melon, too. The cherry and birch woods impart some very unique flavors that leave a lingering cherry cola and birch beer-like flavor. Lactose provides an even sweetness and sublime body from start to finish. It's just as juicy as it is silky smooth, creamy and full-bodied. Finish is floral, earthy with a deep woodiness and some breadiness.
Complex AF. I could throw my thesaurus all night long at this botanical badass. But the beer alchemy is strong here. I'd expect no less from Forbidden Root, and even more so when 3 Floyds' dark forces come to play. Regardless, Stay Lit is truly a unique twist on the juicy and hazy IPA category. And we need more interesting takes on the style as it's quickly becoming boring AF due to every damn brewer seemingly jumping on the haze train and very few doing it well.
Forbidden Root's brewer and operations manager, BJ Pichman, told me that the first batch is draft only at their pub, but look for another batch at Three Floyds in the near future.
