We got our hands on some rum barrels from Barbados and promptly filled them with a big imperial stout. After a ten-month test, a pile of Madagascar vanilla beans were added to marry the wood, spirit, and stout into this decadent sipper.

I tried this beer off the tapper at the Columbus, Ohio brewery location as part of a five sample flight. It poured an opaque dark amber with tan head that left some lace. The scent had subtle sweet chocolate malt and rum notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with heavy sweet chocolate malt base with rum raisin presence. The mouthfeel was fuller in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.
